CVC Spelling: A in the Middle

Feb 08 2016

A middle spelling
This free autism resource is useful in teaching spelling on CVC words – that is consonant-vowel-consanant words. Words like “pop”, “cup”, and “man”. These words are wonderful for teaching phonics because each word makes it sound. This activity focuses on words with “a” in the middle.

Setting Up the Worksheet

To set up the worksheet, simply cut out the pictures on the second page and attach them into the boxes on the worksheet (we use this method so students do not memorize the positions of the pictures). Then, have the student write in the letters to spell each word. If the student has difficulty with writing, cut out the letters on the second page and have them glue or tape them on. Or, laminate and velcro the worksheet, the pictures, and the letters for repeated use!
