Making Mistakes Social Guide

Feb 26 2016

Making Mistakes Social Guide
Making mistakes is apart of life. How we react to those mistakes is what matters most. For individuals with autism, they may become extremely upset when they make a mistake. Today’s free autism resource not only helps to explain that mistakes are OK, but what to do after a mistake. We have broken mistakes into three categories: fix it, forget it, and apologize, with some examples.

How to Use this Social Guide to Understand Mistakes:

Read this to students when they are calm to help them understand the concept of mistakes and reactions to them. Then when students make a mistake, reference this chart to help them establish appropriate responses. You can also make a separate sheet with student’s common mistakes, and what their reactions could be.
